In general the tone of these articles is about buying and selling real estate. We touch on remodeling, staging, updates and most anything else loosely related to real estate transactions. One of the most amazing feelings I have ever experienced was spending that first night in my newly built home over in Lincoln. For a brief moment (because I knew I was destined to sell the place) I felt like the master of my domain. The room sizes, floor layout, wall color, basement size and even the direction the home faced (towards Franconia Ridge) were all decisions I had made. There really is no greater feeling for a first-time homeowner.

So, this week I want to explore that feeling a bit more. We are going to run under the assumption that your home is yours and there is no intention of selling. We're not worried...

I have now lived in NY, NH, ME, MA, WV, CO and MN. I think the average for Americans is 8 states in a lifetime so I'm almost there! While New Hampshire is a fairly small state, it has a surprising amount of great features that make living here just amazing. Today I'd like to look at a few of my favorite things about NH. There are all kinds of recreation, beautiful landscapes, charming small towns, and bustling big cities. There are likely countless more reasons beyond these as well.

One of the best parts about living in this area is the variety. I have lived in Portsmouth, Lincoln and the Mount Washington Valley and all have their different aspects to love. I'm not a city guy at all so I've avoided Manch-Vegas and Concord like the plague. But if that is your cup of tea, we've got it! I've shown an...

Chances are good that there are lots of Halloween events happening around town this weekend. Get out there and enjoy the festivities. If nothing else, this is your best excuse to chow down on bite-sized candy bars. Remember, if you can fit the whole bar in your mouth in one bite, it eliminates the calories and fat! That's just science. We're actually getting spoiled this weekend with amazing weather, so get out there and have some fun. If you find yourself, like me, stuck at home though, I wanted to share a few ideas for keeping yourself busy and preparing for the coming winter and the coming festivities.

Something often overlooked this time of year is all of our outdoor "stuff". Last weekend I...

I'm playing hooky today! I'm writing this on Wednesday and with all the snow we've been getting, enough is enough. It is time to get out and play. I'm fortunate to work for myself so I don't have to come up with an excuse (or a sick voice) and "call in". Because of the beautiful snow and a fairly light workload right now, there is no better time to do it.

I have owned my own business for 6 years now. During the first few years I called on my mentor and close friend, Sean, for help, insight, advice and a shoulder to scream on. One of the best pieces of advice he ever gave me was when the workload is light, get out and hike. At least get out and do something you enjoy because the phone will start ringing again and the emails will start coming in. Enjoy the time when you can (or when you need it!).

Alfred and Eleanor Wilcox were two of my favorite people on earth. When I was first born, our family lived with them in New York for those first years of my life they introduced me to the concept of "home". As I grew up, and our family relocated all over New England, we always found a way to get back to Alfred and Eleanor's house for the holidays. "Nana" and "Bampa" were their "real" names for all four of us grandkids. The smell of Nana's cooking and Bampa's ever-present smile were always a highlight for our visits. Of course, actually FINDING Bampa sitting down in one place long enough to see the smile was always a challenge. As I look back now it is obvious that lots of care, love, time and hard work went into creating that atmosphere that we looked forward to and appreciated so much.
